Central Bank Dismisses Rumors of Freezing Citizens' Bank Deposits

The Bank of Russia has categorically denied rumors circulating in the information space regarding a potential freeze on citizens' bank savings. The regulator's leadership labeled such scenarios as absolutely impossible and absurd, emphasizing that no such measures are being considered by financial authorities under any circumstances, and the idea itself contradicts the core principles of the financial system.

The public concern was triggered by a resonant statement from an economic expert who suggested that the government might resort to a forced freeze of funds to curb rising inflation rates. This expert opinion quickly spread through the press and social media, sparking a wave of anxiety among depositors. Due to the mounting fears, citizens began sending massive inquiries to the regulator's official communication channels, prompting the agency to issue direct and unequivocal public clarifications to stabilize public sentiment.

Following the Central Bank, the Ministry of Finance also confirmed that these assumptions are entirely groundless. The ministry officially assured the public that no plans to restrict access to personal savings exist or have ever been under consideration. The authorities emphasized that the country's banking system is operating normally, possesses ample liquidity, and the stability of deposits remains under full state control and protection.
