Key Business Regulatory Changes Coming in August 2026

Starting August 1, new mandatory labeling rules for specific meat products and packaged sausages will officially take effect. Manufacturers and importers of these goods must now apply Data Matrix codes and promptly transmit this data to the "Chestny Znak" system.

Retail stores will have to fully reconfigure their checkout software to scan these updated codes. Additionally, the sale of any remaining unlabeled light industry inventory is strictly prohibited this month. Business owners selling clothing without these special tags will face substantial fines and product confiscation.

In the tax and reporting sector, an updated unified simplified tax declaration comes into use this August. Furthermore, the authorities are changing the reporting format for indirect taxes on goods imported from EAEU countries. Accountants must update their accounting software ahead of time to avoid any transmission errors when filing these documents.

For entrepreneurs, tracking government payment assessments is becoming significantly easier. Property tax notifications will now arrive automatically in personal accounts on the "Gosuslugi" portal. Individuals and sole proprietors will no longer need to submit separate physical or digital applications for this setup. This upgrade will help businesses identify outstanding debts faster and avoid accumulating late payment penalties.
