New 100-Ruble Banknote Enters Circulation in Russia

The Bank of Russia has officially introduced a modernized 100-ruble banknote into cash circulation. This release continues the central bank's comprehensive, planned program aimed at improving the quality and security of Russian paper currency.

The newly issued banknote is dedicated to the Central Federal District. Its front side and security features completely mirror the design of the 2022 version, featuring a fragment of the Moscow Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower with its clock. The main visual update in the latest version is the inclusion of a stylized map of the Central Federal District on the back, next to the Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier. A similar graphic element depicting macro-regions has already been successfully integrated into the updated 1,000 and 5,000-ruble notes.

As emphasized by the regulator, the new 100-ruble notes are legal tender throughout the country. They will circulate alongside the older 100-ruble bills and must be accepted for all types of payments without any restrictions.
